Committee Meeting 21 September 2015: digest of minutes

It was agreed to fund a replacement for Elaine Tucker's memorial tree at the UEA Broad

Graham Fletcher was welcomed as our new secretary.

Members will attend the exhibition of McCarthy and Stone's latest plans for the Bartram Mowers' site on 24 September 2015.

A planning application for a solar farm at Bawburgh was discussed.

John Elbro and John Ayton reported on developments relating to the proposed Yare Valley corridor within the County Green Infrastructure Plan.

Committee Meeting 29 September 2014: digest of minutes

As annual expenses exceed present income from membership subscriptions, it was decided to continue efforts to recruit new members, and a modest rise in annual subscriptions and abolition of the life membership option was agreed.

No relevant planning applications have been received recently.

An appeal for fauna and flora sightings has been received from the Norfolk Biological Information Service.

 

Committee Meeting 21 July 2014: digest of minutes

Ann Livingstone and Graham Martin were welcomed as new members.

It was agreed that membership subscriptions would be £3 annually for individuals and £5 for families. A renewed proposal to build on the Bartram Mowers site was discussed. See Planning news

 

Committee Meeting 21 October 2013: digest of minutes

Before the meeting, Councillor Garry Wheatley attended and discussed various matters of interest to the Society. He indicated his desire to maintain the Southern Bypass Protection Zone.

The committee discussed:

  • The proposed underground I.T. cable link between UEA and the Norwich Research Park - which the Society supports.
  • The proposed change of use of the old Saddlery on the Bartram site - which we have opposed.
  • The City Council's Push the Pedalways cycle route initiative.
  • The need for clarification about whether Colney Hall is regarded as part of the Research Park.
    Subsequent to the meeting, we have discussed the implications for the Valley, of the decision to allow, on appeal,  housing development on the old Lakenham cricket ground.

Committee Meeting 15 July 2013: digest of the minutes

  • Hilary Hann was welcomed as our new Treasurer, and Jean Ray was thanked for her work in that role for many years.
  • Planning matters discussed included; housing at Three Score in Bowthorpe; Colney Hall developments; parking at Earlham Hall.
  • The renewal of the Society’s public liability insurance was confirmed.
  • The need for more bins for dog waste on footpaths was noted.
  • The re emergence of giant hogweed is being attended to by City Hall.
  • The frequency of newsletters and the need for more e mail contact with members was discussed.
  • It was agreed to invite a Conservative Councillor to our next meeting (representatives of the Green, Lib dem and Labour parties having attended committee meetings during the last two years).
